Workflow Notification System

For business processes, Workflow can send e-mail notifications to alert participants of their responsibilities. These notifications are configured based on the participant's business process role.
The Workflow notification capabilities are configured in two locations. Each location allows you to configure a different component of the notification system. The following lists the locations that must be configured for Workflow to send e-mail notifications.
The Workflow Administration Console
The Workflow Server Timer is configured in the Server Timers node of the Workflow Administration Console. The Server Timer controls the interval at which e-mail notifications are sent, as well as how e-mails will look, what information they will contain, and who the notification e-mails will be sent from when the notification system runs.

The Workflow Designer
- Configure the e-mail addresses of trustees who will be business process participants in the Trustee Directory.
- Notification settings (e.g. which business process role will receive e-mail notifications and under what circumstances) are configured when you build your business process; notification settings for each role in the business process are defined in the Role Editor dialog box, accessed from the Participants property box of the Business Process Step activity.

Note: Define the user(s) who will fulfill business process roles in the Participants property box of the Business Process Step activity.
